STAINLESS STEEL

SHEETS

MTS stocks Stainless Steel (SS) sheet in  304/304L, 316/316L grades.

In addition,  MTS stocks selected SS sheets for High Engineered and Aerospace applications including 17-4 PH, 15-5PH, 13-8 Mo and 17-7 PH alloys.

Stainless steel, also known as Inox steel or Inox from French "inoxydable", is a steel alloy with a minimum of 10.5% to 11% chromium content by mass. Balance contains levels of nickel, molybdenum, and niobium.

SS resist to corrosion, however it is not fully stain-proof. It is also called corrosion-resistant steel or CRES when the alloy type and grade are not specified (specifically in Aerospace industry). There are several grades and surface finishes of stainless steel to suit wide range of applications. Stainless steel is mainly used where both steel mechanical properties are needed with increased values for corrosion resistance.

Stainless steel offers the following benefits for its users:

  • Stain and Corrosion Resistance

  • Heat and Fire Resistance

  • High strength-to-Weight Ratio

  • Recyclable

  • Appearance and Cleanliness

Several industries utilize stainless steel for wide range of applications including Aerospace, Automotive, General Engineering, Oil and Gas, High Tech and Medical.
